Christmas eve and day!

We had a wonderful Christmas with all of our families.  It was so nice to be able to get out of the house, even if I mostly laid on the couch.  Luke made out like a bandit, he got such wonderful gifts from everyone.  Rob and I were given wonderful gifts as well, even our little one who isn't here yet was spoiled!!  We are just so thankful for our wonderful families, and thankful for the greatest gift of all, Jesus Christ.  Here are some pictures of our Christmas!

Some of his favorite toys he already had Woody, but now has Buzz and Jessie too!  Of course he loves his Handy Manny tools!

Hi everyone!
A lot has been going on in our family lately.  First we had all of the birthday's, which I sadly couldn't attend due to my bed rest, then there was holiday shopping, Rob's Christmas party, and a family Christmas.  All of which I was unable to attend.  One highlight was my mom planned a little suprise "sprinkle" for my baby girl!  It was so nice of all of them!  They came to my house and suprised me, My mom, sister Melissa, and sister in law Megan all came over!  They had such lovely gifts for the baby, and brought a beautiful cake!  I am so blessed to have a wonderful family.  It really cheered me up to have them come and celebrate with me!  As you can imagine the holidays can be a really hard time to not be able to leave the house!  I am thinking I will defintly be getting the o.k. from the dr. to go lay on the couch at my parent's Christmas eve and morning, and go over to my in-laws for the afternoon evening.  My sister in law Elaine is due with a baby boy not even two months after me, and I have been planning her shower from home with help from her friend Kristi!  While she is home for the holidays from Cape Cod, we are having her baby shower!  I will be sure to post pictures, it will so nice to celebrate her baby boy!!  I will make sure to post once the baby comes!  I wish you all a blessed Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

Hi everyone!

I am finally going to post some old pictures I have been promising! Here are some pictures of Luke as Buzz Lightyear for Halloween (would he look at the camera, no! Would he wear the hood to the costume, no!) haha, but he was adorable! I will also post pictures of his Imagination Movers concert that he went to on November 2nd. I am on my 4th week of bed rest, and I am doing pretty well thanks to all of the help from my family. The holidays will be the hardest, but I am allowed to go to my parent's for a couple of hours tomorrow to lay on their couch there. It is better than laying here on the couch alone! I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving with their family and friends. If you are traveling stay safe out there!

Love,

Kimberly

Going into week 3 on bed rest

I need to still post pictures of Luke as Buzz Lightyear from Halloween, and pictures from his Imagination Movers concert on November 2nd! I am very behind. I really don't have the excuse that I am busy, as I have been laying on the couch or in bed for almost 3 weeks now! I couldn't do it without the help of my family. My husband has just been awesome, and my mom comes almost every morning and helps clean house, and get Luke bathed and ready for the day. My mother in law has been awesome helping with Luke she comes and picks him up or comes over here everyday. Which he looks forward to so much! The only time I can leave the house is to go to the dr. each week. We had an ultrasound on Tuesday and she looks so cute! We are taking things day by day and hoping to make it 36 weeks. Everything is doing good so far, the bed rest is really helping my blood pressure stay lower, next week we will check for more protein in the urine and hopefully that is doing o.k. too. Then we will move to twice a week appointments. I hope that this finds everyone in blog land doing well.
-Kimberly
I'll have Rob get me my memory card so I can load those pics of Luke soon.

Happy 88th birthday Betty Jane Edgcomb!

Happy Birthday to my Grandma Betty (November 13th)! I hope you had a wonderful birthday, I wish I could come to visit you. My Grandma is at a nursing home in LaSalle-Peru, and she has been there many years since her stroke. She can make you laugh really hard with the funny things she says, and the stories she tells. She is one of the strongest women I know, and has been through a lot. I love you lots Grandma! Happy Birthday!

Bed Rest.............

Well I had some surprising news on Tuesday from my dr. I knew that my blood pressure had been starting to go a little wacky, because I was seeing sparkly floaters in my vision, my face, fingers, and ankles were swollen, and I had that familiar radiating abdominal pain I had with Luke. I went to the dr. last Friday, where they told me that I would have to take one of those fun 24 urine tests to check for protein. I never heard back from the dr. after taking the test, so I figured all was fine! Tuesday at 2:30 I went in for my dr.'s apt, where she started talking about my blood pressure, and how bad it got with Luke, and therefor she thought it would be good if I started bed rest since I am only 27 weeks, and we don't want it to get worse. That meant calling my work, and telling them I would be off for the remainder of my pregnancy, and going home and starting bed rest immediately. I am only able to to get up to shower, and sit up to eat meals, oh yeah of course to go to the bathroom. I can only leave the house once a week, for my weekly dr.'s apt. I was on bed rest for a little over a week at the end with Luke when they just decided the best thing was to deliver him at 36 weeks. We are hoping I can make it to at least 36 weeks this pregnancy. My family has already been great helping me, but I have a long road ahead. It will all be worth it to hold my precious little girl in my arms. Keep making posts to your blogs, so I have some fun stuff to read while lying on the couch! =)

Fall Fun!

Running from Daddy who is chasing him with leaves!
Mowing the lawn
Daddy set up his slide to end in a big pile of leaves
Leaf Fight!!
Gosh could he even see with his hat like that!

Little Luke has been enjoying fall a lot this year. He has been playing in the leaves almost everyday (boy he will be sad when Daddy rakes them up!), and Mommy took him to the Rader Pumpkin Patch on Tuesday. I grew up about 2 miles down the road from the Rader's so it is really neat that I can bring my son there to their Pumpkin Patch! He really enjoyed going there, and especially loved the play houses and the pumpkin doughnuts! I can't wait till we can carve our pumpkins, maybe tomorrow night. I am going to attempt a Mickey Mouse face, because Elmo looked too hard! haha! You can print pumpkin stencils off the internet for free, which I thought was pretty cool. Hope everyone is enjoying fall, and I hope we will see a few more sunny days coming up!
In other news we took Luke to see his first movie on Saturday, which was G-Force. He enjoyed the popcorn, Sprite and MandM's that we got him, and sat for a while and watched the movie. He couldn't make it through the whole thing, but did a pretty good job for a 2 1/2 year old boy! He talked about G-Force all summer, so we figured when it made it to the dollar theater we would take him! He also had what his dr. thinks was the Swine Flu last week, he is now recovered, and we hope that it was the Swine Flu, so we don't have to worry about him getting it again this season at least! We were worried about the little guy, but he got better pretty fast actually. He is also looking forward to being Buzz Lightyear for Halloween next week, and going to see The Imagination Mover's Live at the Assembly Hall in Champaign on November 2nd! We'll be sure to post pictures of Halloween and the Movers!

Lauryn Margaret is here!

My beautiful niece made her arrival yesterday October 13th at 4:40 p.m. She weighed 7 lbs. 8 oz. and was 19 inches long. Her name is Lauryn Margaret. She is so adorable, she actually has a little bit of red in her hair, yeah for another red head in the family! Who knows what color it will actually turn out to be though! Her mommy is doing great! I couldn't believe how great she looked last night. ( I was a little jealous, haha!) Due to the very late hour I made it to the hospital last night, I didn't have a camera with me coming straight from work! You know I will post pics as soon as I have them though! Right now I am over the moon with my new niece here safe and sound. Now I will only have a few months until my daughter will join us, and I can't wait! =)

Luke's 2 1/2 year check up!

Luke went in for his 2 1/2 year check up today, and he did very well! Although he thought we were there for me, he told me to get up on the table, and show the nurse my tummy! The nurse and I both thought this was really funny. I then had to break it to him that we were there for him! I did tell a little white lie to him when I said there would be no shots, Dr. Luke recommended that he get his flu shot, so we did this year. So to make it up to him I took him to Dairy Queen to meet up with Daddy for lunch!
Stats-
Luke weighed in at 30 lbs. (not sure how many ounces) was 34 1/2 inches tall, and his head although I can't remember how big was in the 80th percentile. He is still our short and stout little boy with the chubby cheeks!

Happy 2nd Birthday Autumn Rose!

Happy 2nd birthday to my sweet niece Auttie (October 3rd)! I've had so much fun watching you grow these past two years, you are such a sweet natured little girl, and I love you! We had a great time at Autumn's party on Friday night, but I forgot my camera at the birthday girl's house, and it is still there today! I will post some pictures of the birthday when I get my camera back!

This tv show scared me last night

Rarely does anything scare me anymore, but when I was flipping through channels last night and caught the first 15 minutes or so of My Monkey Baby on TLC I was TERRIFIED! The show started out with this young couple acting like they were going to the hospital to have a real human baby, they had baby wipes, little clothes, newborn diapers, they knew it was going to be a girl etc. Then they go to this house to adopt a MONKEY! Yes, you read that right a monkey! A man from another couple said "I get mad when people refer to Jessica Marie as a monkey, she's not a monkey she's my daughter". With all of the children in the U.S. waiting to be adopted, there are people who would rather adopt monkeys instead! Frightening! I couldn't resist making a post about this creepy show, did anyone else see it? I turned off the t.v. and went to the basement to watch The Incredibles with my boys after that. What is this world coming to that people are bringing wild animals into their homes, and treating them like infants! Then TLC makes a show on it? Scary! Please feel free to comment!

Happy Birthday Mindy!

I want to wish a Happy Birthday to my mother in law Mindy! Thanks for being a great mom to all of us Mindy, and a great Mimi to Luke! We celebrated Mindy's birthday by heading to Oktoberfest at the German restaurant in Gibson City. It was a lot of fun, and Luke really enjoyed the German music that the group there played! We headed back to the Oakley's for cake and ice cream! We hope you had a great birthday Mindy! We love you!

Melissa's Sprinkle!

Sock roses I made for a centerpiece

Last weekend my sister in law Megan, and I threw my sister Melissa a small get together called a sprinkle for her second baby arriving in less than a month now! We had it at Jamani Java where Megan used to work part time. It is a very nice coffee shop that had the perfect little room for the get together! We had a really good time celebrating the upcoming arrival of Lauryn Margaret. I took pictures of the event, that I will hopefully post soon! I will also keep those readers that know Melissa and her family updated about when the new bundle has arrived!! I am so excited!!! p.s. My sister in law Megan took way better pics that me since my camera ran out of batteries! If I can figure out how to post them I will! This was all I took before my camera went dead!

Happy Birthday to Rebecca Joy McAlpin!

I want to wish a very happy belated birthday (September 3rd) to my big sister Rebecca! The only family member with a birthday not within a month before or after Christmas! haha. I hope you had a very special day. This year we were actually able to celebrate Becky's birthday with her a few days early! Her and her husband Richard were on their way out to Colorado for vacation and stopped by my parents house on August 27th for dinner, cake, and presents! It was so nice to see her since I hadn't since last November! My mom took some pictures so maybe when my parents get back from Montana I will get some from her and post them! I love you Becky, you are a great sister, and friend to me!
Love,
Kimmy

Luke is going to have a baby sister!

We are having a baby girl! Of course Rob and Luke told me it was a girl all along, but for some reason I thought it was a boy! We are very excited to welcome a little girl to our family!! The funniest part is Luke has been telling me that the baby's name is Julia the whole pregnancy, I don't think we are going with that name, but if we did it would be funny to tell her that her big brother named her someday. He got the name from an Elmo DVD he always watches that Julia Roberts is in! haha.

The waiting is the hardest part.....

Tomorrow is the day we find out if the baby is a boy or girl! Hopefully that can of soda I drink before hand will have the baby showing off for us! We are going to bring Luke, and after we find out the sex we will take Luke to go pick out a new outfit for the baby! I'm excited to find out, although I really don't mind either way what the baby is, a boy would be great fun for Luke since he would have a little bro to go through life with, and it would save money! A little girl would be awesome as well to have, and experience having a girl, Luke could look out for her growing up! Well hopefully they will be able to tell the gender, and I will let everyone know!
-Kimberly

p.s. Rob's guess Girl, Kimmy's guess Boy!

Grandma Kay- Guesses Boy / Aunt Melissa, Grandpa Steve, Grandma Mindy, most of my co-workers, guess girl!
All others have no idea! haha

Big Boy Bed!

Luke finally got a big boy bed! A couple of Saturday's ago we went to the sale at Lebeda and purchased Luke a new big boy bed! He is so excited, because now he is just like his cousin Coco! We took him to Walmart to pick out his sheets and comforter and he picked out a Handy Manny bed set! He was so excited! He napped in it right away and two nights later he slept all night, now he has been sleeping every night in his big boy bed! He loves his bed, and now that he is potty trained and out of his crib, he is all set to become a big brother! Here are some pics of him enjoying his new bed!

greetings out there in blog land!

Just wanted to post an entry about some of the stuff going on here lately. I had a Dr.'s apt on Thursday where they told me that I will come back on September 1st to have my ultrasound to find out if Baby Oakley is a boy or a girl! I can't wait to find out! I thought it might be fun if I had a poll on here for people to guess what they think it is! Yesterday we finally took Luke to the Children's Discovery Museum! He loved it so much he didn't want to leave! It was a nice activity to do while it was so hot outside! We are not much for hot weather in this family! Of course I forgot to bring my camera to the museum! Hopefully I will have photos to post next time!

Group picture of all the family that came to see Elaine and Brandon!
Hey all!
I realize my blog has been sorely lacking lately! I haven't had very much to post about for some reason! We have just been enjoying summer, relaxing, taking walks, going to the park, and playing in Luke's little pool! Luke has been changing so much! He has gone from a curly headed baby to a buzz cut little boy! We took him to Lee's barber shop at the end of June for a buzz cut just like daddy's! He cried during the whole thing, but was sure a proud boy after. He felt his hair all day long and would say "Hair cut, just like daddy's!". It was so cute! He is talking more than ever saying some of the funniest things ever. He is getting really geared up to be a big brother in January! If we want to go waaay back this summer, we put a new roof on the house at the end of May, early June. Boy, that project took on a life of it's own! After tearing up about 4 layers of roof, and laying down all those shingles all of the men were sure tired! I want to give a big thanks to all that helped! Rob's sister Elaine and brother in law Brandon also visited in late May, we had a lot of fun seeing them, so did Luke! Last weekend we took Luke to the Zoo for the first time, finally! Which he loved! I will post pictures of that sometime soon! I hope I will be able to keep up on the blog better in the future!!
